Any body else here get depressed when you see Hollywood put up pictures of the KKK with a Southern Flag? Evil or Very Mad

I haven't watched the Selma movie yet but curious about it.

Are you referring to the first KKK or the second KKK? To my understanding, the first KKK was believed to be the good one. After the first one was disbanded, a second KKK emerged; all the bad and wrongful doings started from the second KKK.

If I am not mistaken, the first one was also created to help the Confederate soldiers who survived the war. Like you mentioned, since the Northerners flocked to the South in the name of "reconstruction". But in reality either confiscated to make those their own or destroyed the belongings of the survivors.

I believe the first KKK was much like the Red Shirts of South Carolina, a civilian protection group that restored law and order to those towns where lawlessness had been brought against the citizenry by black militias, Federal forces, and carpetbagging Yankees.
